Original Noisy Data
Orthogonal (Isotropic) Wavelet*
TI wavelet TI+DI Anisotropic Wavelet
(Better look at the full resolution figures in order to see the differences.)
* What I call "orthogonal isotropic wavelet" here is, modulo some relatively minor technical differences, basically what is used in JPEG 2000 for image coding. Notice how much better the TI+DI anistropic wavelet method can recover the filamentary structures in the 3-D biological dataset.
